Where Do My Items Go?

hRDos
  • Do empty and rinse out all recyclables.
  • Do make sure every item is free of smells and food waste.
  • Do make sure your items stay dry in your bin.
hRDonts
  • Don't put anything with food waste or liquid on it in your bin.
  • Don't put plastic bags in your bin- they can jam machines at recycling facilities. Instead, recycle your plastic bags at participating grocery and home improvement stores.
  • Don't bag your recyclables- keep them loose in your bin.

LERN SAYS:

Special recycling events are a great way to clear out some of the old clutter in your house or garage — recycling facilities can accept a pretty extensive list of items at these events that you can’t throw away in your own bins. They’ll make sure your items don’t end up in a landfill and some will even unload your vehicle for you onsite. Some items (mainly TVs and old fridges) may require a recycling fee, but it’s a small price to pay to make a big difference!
